In the name of peace

Blogger The "B" Team said...

With the recurring scent of peace in the air, the reincarnation of Arik Sharon as a 1967 Laborite, I felt it prudent to reminisce about that cold and rainy day in March 2002, when I hung up my fatigues, flak jacket, and M-16, for the last time. How optimistic I still felt when trying to convince my graduate students in Tel Aviv, that coexistance with the Palestinians was possible. I remember feeling guilty everytime I heard my voice on Galei Zahal (IDF Radio) morning commercials, extohling the virtues of volunteering for reserve duty in Jenin, the Bikaa or other terrorist infested milieus. A belated apology to those who shared my optimism, and an apology to those who didn't. In response to Leora Meyer who is still waiting for an answer: Last year in Turkey we ended every answer with "ein sh'Allah.
